June 2008We have wrapped up this spring quarter initiating 6 new brothers:
- Chris Anderson *They helped raise over $260 in donations from Row-A-Thon for the URS foundation. Also, the fraternity had initiated 6 more brothers in the previous winter quarter: - Nate
Perie For the end of the 2007-2008 school year, our fraternity stands at 33 active brothers on campus. We have doubled in one year and are looking to increase even more in the future. We have also been awarded the "Outstanding Chapter Project (Row-A-Thon)" in IFC for this school year. We are finally on our way back to, again, being the elite fraternity at Wright State University. July 2007Hello Fellow Brothers: This is Zack DeBaltzo, current president of Beta Phi, over the past few months I have been in good contact with Wright State's Greek advisor Dino Martinez. Though many of you will not know who Dino is, you may all recognize his "type". Always stirring up controversy with the only local chapter at WSU. I have been given the opportunity to intern this summer in the Student Activities office, with a couple other Greeks, who get to organize the upcoming events for the next school year. One of my tasks this summer was to gather updated insurance policies from the other 15 chapters and to find a provider for our fraternity. I do believe insurance is always a good idea, however, not an affordable option for our smaller local chapter of only 24 members. I have been given a leeway for the upcoming Pumpkin Hunt, only event insurance will need to be purchased from what I am told. But within the school year we will be "required" to carry group coverage. I am in contact with a couple of insurance providers; Kirklin insurance, also MJ insurance. Both major players when it comes down to providing coverage for Greek organizations. This message is going out to you all to make you more aware of our current situation and possibly to gather support against our administration. If anyone has ideas of how to afford insurance, or how to avoid our chapter not being recognized by Wright State, I am available via email. Fraternally, Zack DeBaltzo |

We have started to rush for Winter Quarter. If all goes well, this will be the first Winter Quarter class in some time. Lastly, I know I speak for all the active brothers in wishing our alumni, their families, and friends a great holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving! Merry Christmas! and Happy New Year! Until 2007.... Will Taylor, President |

October 2006The active chapter has taken a smaller than normal pledge class, but is confident in the devotion of the following associate members: Beta Tau Pledge Class - Fall 2006 Travis Jones WSU's Homecoming is coming up October 11th - 14th. The office of Greek Affairs is putting on a cookout for Greek Alumni and current Greek members. This event will take place on Saturday, October 14th from 12 - 3 PM. If interested in coming out and meeting current members and possibly seeing some alumni from the other Greek chapters, as well, please email the active chapter's Alumni Relations Chair, Jon Holm. *The active brothers have expressed interest in playing a football game that afternoon, as well. June 2006The active chapter has had a sometimes rocky, but beneficial year. Over the past year, we have succeeded in increasing our community service, our philanthropic donations, participation with campus, and our academics. Concerning community service, the brothers have kept the tradition alive holding a Fall and Spring Row-A-Thon raising hundreds of dollars for United Rehabilitation Services. Additionally, we participated in Relay for Life for the first time this spring, raising nearly $1000 for the American Cancer Society. This past fall, we held a clothing drive, donating over 40 large garbage bags of clothing to military veterans. We held two fundraisers Spring Quarter raising funds for both the fraternity general fund, Relay for Life, and an additional donation, through a partnership with California Pizza Kitchen Restaurant and ourselves, to URS of a couple hundred dollars. We have increased our participation on campus with our first year ever being involved in the Lip Sync Contest. We also participated in the All-Greek Dance and have two members on two governing councils. Will Taylor was recently elected Commuter Senator for Student Government and Dustin Hatfield was elected Vice President of Scholastics on the IFC Council. We participated in Fall Fest and had a truly original booth at May Daze '06 with our Turkey Bowling game that Caleb Carmin came up with. For the fourth quarter in a row, the fraternity's overall GPA has increased and we look to not break the streak after spring quarter has commenced. Additionally, we held our annual formal dance in Cincinnati, which was a great time by all who attended. This spring, we have two dedicated pledges who will hopefully be voted in as our two newest brothers. Composites were completed and the newest composite is currently hanging beside the others. The fraternity has been working with the Board of Directors to establish an updated ritual book. We are currently working on updating the Constitution, planning a bonfire/cookout for first weekend (like was done in past), and planning for next year's Hunt. Lastly, the active brothers wanted a website to help us be competitive with the other national fraternities on campus. We established RushBarfly and have a good framework that will be increasingly updated and changed over the summer. We have strived to keep it current to help us use it as a recruitment tool as well as to keep everybody updated as what is going on. Please continue to check it out over the next few months and feel free to e-mail myself any feedback. We look forward to the Fall and hope everybody has an amazing Summer. Will Taylor, President Beta Phi Omega Fraternity has formed a Relay for Life team at WSU for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life 2006 Walk which is 24 hours starting 6pm 21 April and ending 6pm 22 April. Our goal is $1000 and with your help in whatever denomination you could donate ($50, $25, even $10) we can reach that goal. Please click to make a donation. The American Cancer Society, The Relay for Life Organization at WSU, and Team Barfly thank you for your help. The active chapter has purchased its own domain and has developed its own website which will be used more as a recruiting tool and updated information for WSU concerning the active chapter. As we wind down winter quarter, the actives have done elections and these new officers will begin their term after Spring Break. Here they are: President - William Taylor I know I speak for everybody when I say that we are extremely excited about the upcoming year in office and especially Spring Quarter. This Spring Quarter, we are hoping to rush quite a few guys. Additionally, we have formal coming up in April, May Daze, Greek Week, and Row-A-Thon in May. We hope to raise more money than we did in the fall for URS. We hope to hold a few more philanthropic events this Spring and possibly an alumni event to get you guys out with us, as well. I am extremely confident in this e-board and I know that we will work together efficiently and have an awesome year. Best Regards. William Taylor |
